HOLLYBURN
EYE CLINIC

Before there was “North Vancouver”, there were huge forests of fir, cedar and hemlock. Hollyburn Eye Clinic is on Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish) land, and we worked with the owner and local First Nations artist Ray Natraoro to commission the custom art piece that hangs in the reception lobby. Fir beams in the ceiling with visible saw marks honoured the history of the land, and alluded to a sky full of tree branches. We worked together to make a space reflective of the historic and natural surroundings, executing a complex design throughout the 5000+ square foot space that hosts one of the lower mainland’s largest eye clinics. After meeting extensively with the owner and their award winning practitioners, we fully understood the steps involved in optometry exams, practitioners ergonomics, and client pathways - allowing us to craft a design that put client and employee wellness at the forefront while maintaining a clean, bright, and approachable space that feels safe and welcoming to all who enter.
